Exhibitions
The FOTOGALERIE WIEN currently exhibits seven shows a year including: one Werkschau, one Solo, three exhibitions dedicated to an annual theme of focus, and two other exhibitions curated independent of the theme of focus and Werkschau
Theme of Focus: exhibitions dedicated to a specific topic in photography, takes place throughout the year, includes one catalogue compiling the artists’ contributions and summarizing the exhibitions at the end of the year
Solo: This series of exhibitions is to serve as a platform and springboard to artists who are at the beginning of their career, once a year
Werkschau: a retrospective for a well-known Austrian photography artist,once a year, accompanied by a catalogue
Exchange exhibition (dedicated to the annual with galleries abroad)

For 2025/26, the curatorial team of FOTOGALERIE WIEN has chosen to focus on NARRATIVES, exploring narrative strategies and structures in contemporary photography and video art. The three exhibitions developed for this theme are organised chronologically: The first part, Topographies of Memory, looks back at the past through an examination of archival material, historiography, and collective and individual memory.[…]
