DISPLAY CABINET is a new exhibition situation created in 2023 in the entrance area of the FOTOGALERIE WIEN. The new space is used every six months with interventions or installations. The first artist represented here was Aaron Amar Bhamra. We are pleased to present now the artist Sophie Pölzl.
In her work, Sophie Pölzl uses analogue photographic materials, large format films or photographic paper, which she exposes over long periods of time without a camera. The process and the change are the subject of her investigation of the temporary. Carefully but firmly, she places the observation of the passing of time at the centre of her practice.
Petra Noll-Hammerstiel, for the collective
The publication amble with a text by Gianna Virginia Prein is published on the occasion of Sophie Pölzl’s intervention of the same name in the DISPLAY CABINET at FOTOGALERIE WIEN.
amble was an installation of 27 analogue black and white photographic papers that was specially developed for the Display Cabinet at FOTOGALERIE WIEN. The photographic papers were exposed to light for the entire duration of the exhibition and were constantly changing.
